TOURIST ATTRACTIONS IN XIAMEN , FUJIAN

One of the top tourist area in China, millions of visitors travel from all over the world to visit this spectacular city. Xiamen city covers an area of 1,638 square kilometers and has a population of 1.34 million. Also called Amoy, Xiamen is a bustling metropolitan city and it is a well known overseas Chinese homeland and native place of Taiwanese since many residents in Taiwan came from Fujian province. This city was once used by the Ming rulers to escape from their enemies, the Manchu invaders, and subsequently, together with Jinmen, became bases for the Ming armies and under the leadership of General Koxinga tried to restore the battered Ming pride. Many foreign power tried to set up a trade port here but could not accomplished their mission. It was only after the Opium War that the Zheng Chenggong Statue   British managed to succeed whereby Xiamen became one of the first treaty ports and presently, Xiamen is a famous travel destination in Fujian because the tourist attractions in Xiamen and places of interest in Xiamen are all very unique to this region only.

most famous places of interest here is its neighboring Gulang Yu island which is an enchanting retreat of winding lanes and shaded backstreets. The colonial buildings and ruins seen here is exceptionally beautiful in this old area of town.
